Telstar-12, operated by Loral Skynet, is a Ku-band satellite, orbiting geosynchronously at 15°, with coverage of Europe, North America, South America, the Caribbean and South Africa. This satellite is designed to provide a package of communications services (digital TV, telephony, videoconferencing, data transmission, and Internet access) and to deploy satellite networks by applying VSAT technology.

Telstar-12 also has the capability to provide intercontinental connectivity including trans-Atlantic to the Mid-East.
